Education & Training

For GPs/nurses/practice staff/Aboriginal Health Workers/anyone involved in immunisation service delivery
The education modules can be self-administered and aim to improve knowledge about vaccine management, enhance orientation processes for new staff and reduce the risk of cold chain breaches and identify potential vaccine management problems.

For divisions of general practice, Medicare Locals and Public Health Units (PHUs)
The resources in this section help with conducting education and training on vaccine management.

They can be customised depending on the audience, the time available and the learning objectives the facilitator wishes to achieve.

All of the resources can be used in a variety of settings such as,
  • Small group learning sessions
  • Practice visits
  • One-on-one education
  • Individually self-paced and self-directed
Participants are encouraged to complete each of the education modules consecutively however this is mainly dependent on knowledge, experience and time available to the person. Participants are also encouraged to work through each section in the education modules successively as this contextualises the content.

On completion of each section, work through the related reflective activities.

Refer to the information in the relevant section to assist you in answering the questions as well as the National Vaccine Storage Guidelines: Strive for 5 and The Australian Immunisation Handbook.

These resources are provided in a format that allows changes to be made.
